Description:

Fruiting Body: cap 4-10 cm; stalk central, 3-9 cm long x 0.5-2 cm diameter. Spore Print Color: purplish brown. Spores: basidiospores 5-6 x 3.5-5 µm, ellipsoid, smooth, dark brown.

Diagnostic macroscopic feature: species complex of white mushrooms with gray-brown disk, small brownish black scales on the cap and free gills that are dark brown when mature, with white stalk that bruises yellow at base, and annulus growing on ground in deciduous woods
